Welland Hospital

I’m proud to announce that my motion to keep full services at the Welland Hospital received all party support in the Ontario Legislature April 12th, 2022.

We put forward this motion after learning that the NHS articulated that while they do not have plans to close the Welland hospital, following the opening of the new Niagara Falls site, it will transition from a 24/7 emergency department to “emergency services”, detailing that most ambulances will not be going there, the acute care beds will close, and emergency surgery will not be a service that is provided.

Families who rely on the Welland hospital deserve timely access to emergency and acute care when they need it. Our community is growing and our health care system needs to keep pace.
